AUGUSTA, GA — Sometime Sunday night — as everything looks like during this Masters Tournament, weather permitting — Brooks Koepka, Jon Rahm, or one of 52 other players will be there during the trip. You can wear the jacket you actually want to wear. Augusta National Golf Club.
this is green
Saturday’s weather threw the tournament into carefully controlled havoc, with Round 3 scheduled to resume at 8:30 am on Sunday. Koepka, Rahm and Sam Bennett attempted to finish his 7th hole, which was played at 3pm on Saturday. If all goes according to plan for Augusta National, the final round will tee off at 12:30 p.m. .
Augusta National, which had been trying to avoid finishing at the Monday Masters for the first time since 1983, used a similar approach in the 4th round of 2019.
Of course, teatime is only part of Augusta’s weather warfare plan. The club also has a sort of secret weapon that is very sophisticated. It’s a vast underground system known as SubAir that removes moisture from golf course greens and fairways. This system has many functions such as pumping fresh air to help the grassroots structure. However, heavy rains can siphon rainwater from the central areas of the course into locations on the property that are likely to be off course.
Players love the SubAir system. Because it keeps the speed of the course’s devilish greens constant in the rain, drier fairways, harder landing surfaces and longer distances off the tees. The system emits a low hum that top players have come to appreciate.
“You flip a switch and overnight it becomes a completely different golf course,” said Viktor Hovland last year.
Fred Couples — yes, 63-year-old Fred Couples — was chosen.
Let’s be honest, Fred Couples is almost certain not to win the Masters this year. He may even finish last or near. However, 1992 champion Fred He Couples is still on the field.
At 63, he is the oldest player to ever compete in the Masters.
“There really are no secrets,” the couple said. “Everybody loves this place.
Couples, who have the privilege of playing the Masters for life thanks to their victory in 1992, played the third and fourth rounds in 2018, last tied for 38th place. His last time in the top 10 was his 6th place in 2010.
“I’m excited to make the cut,” he said. “That’s why I come here. The last four years have been really mediocre golf — maybe a year I was half close to the cut — but that’s my goal and I’m going to do it.” We have achieved it. Now I can happily play 36 holes. I will do my best to compete. Pair up with young players and watch them play. ”
Sure, he knows he’s not that competitive. he’s fine with that
“I can’t compete with Victor Hovland or Jon Rahm or anyone else, but I can compete with myself. That’s really why I come,” he said.
Some notable scores so far in the suspended third round.
There’s still plenty of third round golf to play, but the round doesn’t offer as many moves as players would like. He was the only one who improved his score by 11. Patrick Cantley, Matt Fitzpatrick, and Sungjae Im scored three. Defending his champion Scotty his Schaeffler improved his two points and Koepka scored him one point higher.
Phil Mickelson remains 4-under par in the tournament after bogeying two of his final three holes before play was suspended on Saturday. Justin Rose started the round at 4 under, went to 6 under, and he was back at 4 under as everyone headed indoors.
Dustin Johnson, who won the lowest score in the history of the 2020 tournament, tied for 5 over 51 in the round 6 over.
