If you spend even a little time around the All England Club during Wimbledon, like I spent a few hours last Monday, you’ll start to notice that many people are dressed in what could be described as a starter kit. Many men wear button-down shirts and shorts. Women, on the other hand, tend to opt for summer dresses and skirts.
But the Starter Kit, as the name suggests, is just the starting point for outfits. Some in the crowd wore blazers and three-piece suits. Some people use sweaters as a kind of accessory, draped over the shoulders or tied around the body or around the waist.
Wimbledon is known for requiring players to wear white. Most of the spectators’ attire included at least one white element, often his white tennis shoes. And it wouldn’t be a British tennis tournament without a few stylish hats.
